Business and IT expertise to help you work smarter and grow with confidence
At PAYGBS we offer flexible, experienced support for solo business owners and small businesses, available for a one-off task, a specific project or as ongoing help.
Running a business means managing far more than your core product or service. IT systems, cyber security, processes, projects and day-to-day administration all need attention, but they do not always require another permanent member of staff.
PAYGBS gives you access to the expertise you need, when you need it. Choose the services that fit your business and use our support for as much, or as little, time as required.
We’re here to carry out the BS, so you don’t have to.

Case Study:
Agile Project Management for a Marine Safety Mobile App

The Challenge
A marine technology business was developing mobile software designed to improve communication and safety at sea, including support during man-overboard situations.
Turning this specialist concept into a practical mobile solution involved far more than software development. The project required close coordination between the client, the software development team and other stakeholders. Requirements also needed to evolve as the software was developed, tested and reviewed. Our client needed experienced project management support to keep everyone informed, focused and working towards the same goal.
Our Solution
PAYGBS provided independent Agile project management support, working closely with both the client and its software development partner. We brought structure and oversight to the project while retaining the flexibility needed for an innovative software development programme. Our role included:
-
Clarifying requirements and priorities
-
Coordinating communication between the client and development team
-
Turning discussions into clear decisions and actions
-
Monitoring progress and keeping the project moving forward
-
Making sure questions and potential issues were addressed promptly
-
Helping the project adapt as requirements evolved
This gave our client confidence that the detail was being managed, without requiring them to oversee the day-to-day development themselves.
An Agile Approach
The project was managed using an Agile approach, with the work divided into manageable stages rather than attempting to define every feature in detail from the outset. Regular discussions and reviews allowed our client to see how the software was developing, provide feedback and refine its requirements. Priorities could then be adjusted as the team learned more through development and testing. This iterative approach helped the project team to:
-
Break a complex development programme into achievable stages
-
Focus effort on the most important requirements
-
Identify questions and potential issues earlier
-
Incorporate client feedback throughout development
-
Maintain clear communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
-
Adapt the plan as requirements and priorities evolved.
The Agile approach we took gave the project clear direction without restricting its ability to respond to new information, feedback or changing priorities.
Working Collaboratively With Our Client
A key part of the project was creating an effective working relationship between our client and the software development team. PAYGBS acted as the link between the commercial and technical sides of the project. We helped translate discussions into clear requirements, priorities, decisions and actions that everyone could understand and work from.
Regular contact allowed our client to remain meaningfully involved in shaping the software without having to manage the detailed day-to-day delivery themselves. When questions or changes arose, they could be discussed openly, assessed against the project’s priorities and incorporated into future stages where appropriate. This created a collaborative working environment in which our client, developers and PAYGBS worked as one team towards the same objective.
The Outcome
The Agile approach provided the structure and flexibility needed to move an innovative marine safety concept through the software development process. Our client remained involved in the decisions that mattered, while the development team received clearer requirements and direction. The project could respond to feedback and new information without losing sight of its overall purpose. With PAYGBS providing independent oversight & coordination, communication remained clear, decisions and actions stayed visible, and everyone involved understood what needed to happen next.
This project demonstrates how we can bring clarity, control and momentum to a complex technical project, connecting clients, developers and other stakeholders so they can work together effectively.
